Lo-Chlor Iron Stain Remover is a targeted granular formula for removing iron and rust staining from pool surfaces — a dedicated treatment for the most common metal staining problem in Australian pools.

Iron staining typically appears as rust-brown discolouration on pool walls, floors and fittings, and is particularly common in areas with iron-rich bore water or properties with old steel plumbing. The concentrated formula works by chemically reducing iron deposits and lifting them from the surface.

What causes iron staining in pools?▾
Iron staining is most commonly caused by bore water or rainwater with high iron content, old iron or steel fittings corroding in the pool plumbing, and iron-rich soil runoff. It becomes visible when chlorine (or air) oxidises dissolved iron, causing it to precipitate as rust-coloured deposits on surfaces.
Can I prevent iron staining from returning?▾
Yes — after treatment, dose Metal Solution to sequester dissolved iron already in the water, then start Stain & Scale Defence weekly. If your fill water is the source, consider a garden hose inline filter, or dose Metal Solution immediately when topping up the pool.
My pool turned brown after I added chlorine. Is this iron?▾
Almost certainly yes. When chlorine is added to water containing dissolved iron, it oxidises the iron rapidly — turning the water brown as the iron precipitates. Don't add more chlorine. Allow chlorine to drop and dose Metal Solution immediately to sequester the dissolved iron in the water column.
Will this remove blue-green copper staining too?▾
